BMC gears up for Mahaparinirvan Din
MUMBAI The Brihanmubmai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) has geared up for the preparations of Mahaparinirwan Din on December 6 at Chaityabhoomi, Shivaji Park, where lakhs of people are expected to throng to pay homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 54th death anniversary.
In a pandal spread over 1.5 lakh sq ft area, the civic body has arranged services like temporary accommodation, washrooms, first aid, electricity etc at Shivaji Park.
According to the civic officials, 16 mobile toilets at different places, 10 mobile toilets for devotees in queue, 100 toilets behind Indu Mill, 300 gents washrooms, 125 ladies washrooms have been made available at Shivaji Park. In addition to this, 350 taps of drinking water and 125 water tankers have been provided for the devotees. The entire area has been illuminated and police and fire brigade personnel have been stationed to Municipal Commissioner Swadhin Kshatriya said, apart from providing all types of civic amenities, special emphasis has been given to ensure cleanliness at Shivaji Park. Mayor Shraddha Jadhav said, the BMC is the only civic body in the country to provide different types of facilities to the followers of Dr Ambedkar.
The civic body has also brought up a special booklet containing information about the facilities at Shivaji Park, which was released by Jadhav on Saturday.
